If you have experienced interpersonal violence it’s important that you understand you are not to blame and there is nothing that did to deserve this. It doesn’t matter when it happened, where it happened. Or what the circumstances surrounding the incident were. It’s not your fault.
You have reporting options, involving confidential campus resources, but also including the option to not report at all.
If you decide to report to a campus authority what has happened, there is certain information you may be asked to share. This information is valid for everyone in the Indiana University community - students, faculty, and staff - including non-U.S. citizens. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (known as the Clery Act) is a federal law requiring United States colleges and universities that receive federal funding to disseminate a public annual security report (ASR) to employees and students every October 1st. This ASR must include statistics of campus crime for the preceding 3 calendar years, plus details about efforts taken to improve campus safety. Victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking have specific rights, options, and resources guaranteed to them by the Clery Act. To learn more please visit the .
